Who we are

This site is operated by Pointing Forward Marketing, a marketing and brand studio based in South London, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.

You can reach us about anything in this notice using the contact details at the end of it.

What we collect, and when

We only collect personal information that you choose to send us. There is no account system, no newsletter sign-up and no tracking of your browsing on this site.

The contact form. If you complete it we receive your name, your email address and the message you write. Nothing else about you is collected or sent. The form does contain one hidden field, labelled “leave this field empty”, which exists only to catch automated spam: if anything appears in it the submission is rejected. It collects no information about you.

Email and calls. If you email us or book a consultation, we hold whatever you send us in order to reply.

Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and diagnostics. We do not use those logs to build any profile of you.

Why we are allowed to hold it

When you contact us about work, we rely on legitimate interests: you have asked us a question and we need your details to answer it. If a project goes ahead, we rely on performance of a contract. We do not send marketing email to people who have not asked for it, so we are not relying on consent for that.

Who else sees it

Enquiries reach us by email, so they pass through our email provider. This website is hosted by a third-party hosting company on our behalf. Neither uses your information for their own purposes.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertising networks. This site carries no analytics, no advertising pixels and no social media trackers.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. There is nothing to accept or reject, which is why you will not find a cookie banner here.

If you use the light/dark switch in the header, your choice is saved in your own browser’s local storage under the name brx_mode so the site remembers it next time. That never leaves your device and we cannot read it.

Fonts

The typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts. That means your browser requests the font files from Google, and in doing so your IP address is visible to Google. We do not send Google anything else about you, and we receive nothing back.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into a project are deleted within 24 months. Where we have delivered work for you, we keep the records for 6 years after the end of the engagement, because accounting and tax rules require it. If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, just ask.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, and object to our use of it. You can also ask for it in a portable format. Exercising any of these is free and we will respond within one month.

To make a request, email william@pointingforward.co.uk. We do not have a separate data protection officer — requests go straight to the founders.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date below. We will not apply a material change retrospectively to information you sent us under an earlier version.
